2002 RV Trip to Delaware and Virginia Beach
November 7, 2002 - November 10, 2002

Although November isn’t always the nicest month in the East, we hate to pass up a chance to travel when the kids are off from school. We had a 4-day weekend to play with, so we thought our best bet would be to head south where we would still be able to catch the end of Indian Summer. Good friends of ours had recently moved to Virginia Beach, so we thought it would be fun to pay them a visit. We’re good guests though—we bring our own guest room with us.
We decided to return to one of our favorite state parks—First Landing, located right on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach. To our amazement, we found out that it was in walking distance to our friends’ condominium. I was quite pleased with myself. The plan was working out perfectly.
However, since our friends wouldn’t be available until the weekend, we had some time to kill on the way down. I thought it might be a good chance for us to explore the Delaware shoreline. I had heard that the beaches there were lovely, but for some reason we had never been there. I did some research and found that Cape Henlopen State Park, right on the tip where Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, was open for camping. We would spend our first night there and then continue down to Virginia Beach.
